Jewelry Care
CARING FOR OXIDIZED JEWELRY
The antiqued patina we apply to our jewelry pieces is done over a careful process. Over time, this patina may lighten into a natural worn look as you wear it. Take care not to clean it with chemical cleaners, as it will strip away the layer of patina we use to enhance the design.
CARING FOR VERMEIL JEWELRY
Vermeil is defined as a coat of gold over sterling silver. Take care not to scratch or rub the vermeil jewelry with a polishing cloth, as it will take away the gold coating. It is best to keep your vermeil jewelry in an air-tight container when you're not wearing it.
A note about our gold plating: Unlike standard industry gold plating, which uses chemicals that are harmful to the environment and to people, we use only eco-friendly materials in our gold and black gold coating processes.
CARING FOR BLACK GOLD JEWELRY
"Black gold" is a studio development where we carefully apply a shiny black coating over sterling silver. It differs from oxidized silver in that it is shinier and cleaner to wear. Take care not to scratch or rub the jewelry as it will take away the coating.
CARING FOR LEATHER JEWELRY
Keep leather away from moisture and heat. It's best to take off your leather jewelry before showering, or prior to physical activities that may cause you to sweat excessively.
A note about the leather we use: We use only leather that's treated with eco-friendly dyes and chemicals that have no harmful impact on the environment. The leather cords are never created from hides of animals that were harmed for their hides.
CARING FOR BLESSING BEADS
Our blessing beads are created with German-made stretch cords to allow you to slip it on easily and stack with other bracelets. To help maintain the strength and elasticity of the cord, keep your bracelet away from water, and take it off before showering or partaking in sports or other physical activities.
CARING FOR GOLDFILLED JEWELRY
Remember to remove your goldfilled jewelry before showering, swimming or bathing as chlorine and saltwater can damage the metal. To prevent it from oxidizing, wipe it with a soft cloth.
CARING FOR GEMSTONE JEWELRY
Store your gemstone jewelry in the a place where the stones won't be scratched. A good solution is to store your jewelry in the jewelry boxes provided during purchase (the soft lining will help protect the gemstones). Remove your jewelry prior to swimming, bathing or physical activity.
